The Point Reyes Lighthouse, also known as Point Reyes Light or the Point Reyes Light Station, is a lighthouse in the Gulf of the Farallones on Point Reyes in Point Reyes National Seashore, located in 1 Bear Valley Rd, Point Reyes National Seashore, CA 94956-9799.
If you happen to be in the area, I would highly recommend seeing the Pt. Reyes Lighthouse. The drive is a bit long, but the scenery is great. Parking is very limited. We need to wait for 30 minutes to get a parking spot.
The wind chills. Don’t forget to bring all extra clothes. We put one clothes on top of another and a thick jacket. It was so cold. The walk down those steps was amazing even with the thick fog. Be careful though, the wind was even pushing me.
You need to go up and over a hill, there is a bit of a walk to actually get to the lighthouse. The walk can be a bit daunting for some people because there are about 620 steps down and back from the lighthouse. The light is now automated. I can’t imagine being the keeper beforehand. When you are at the lighthouse the views are stunning so make sure you have your camera with you. You can see the lighthouse from the top of the steps, and there were people just doing that. We walked all the way down, and it was fun. If you make it back from all the stairs you’ll think, “that was awesome.” The lighthouse is interesting. You can go inside and see the lens, which is pretty cool. Point Reyes Lighthouse is a to go stop to check.
